Scholars earned a variety of honors at the Missouri Junior Classical League State Convention.
Lincoln Prep students received 11 State Championship "1" ratings and 11 state "2" ratings at the 61st Annual Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Music Festival, held April 26-28, 2012 at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
LCPA Spanish students participated in a Mayan Workshop conducted in Spanish by the Chef Tito. Students learned about Mayan culinary history and enjoyed a Mexican dinner and orchata, a Mexican beverage made of rice.
A total of 27 Lincoln Prep Spanish and French students won trophies and awards at the UMKC Foreign Language Fair on Tuesday, April 17.
Nineteen cadets scored in the top 20 percent nationwide in the 2012 National Financial Capability Challenge. Senior Duane Shelton achieved a perfect score and is in further consideration for a $1,000 scholarship.
Jennifer Acosta received second place in the First Foreign Language Creative Writing Contest sponsored by Global and Multicultural Education (GAME). She was honored with a $100 gift certificate and an award certificate for her original story “Tengo Tantas Anclas” (translation: “I have many anchors”), based on a real story of a boy called Ryan.
Six films submitted by Lincoln College Preparatory Academy students earned top prizes in the University of Central Missouri’s 5th Annual Foreign Language Film Festival held on April 4, 2012.
In the Washington Post's Explore the High School Challenge 2011, Lincoln Prep was ranked the second best in Missouri and the 194th best high school overall. Newsweek magazine also ranked Lincoln Prep at the nation's 124th best high school in its annual American's Best High Schools report.
